Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is nothing else than the result of the chronic deterioration of the cartilage of one or more joints ( Cartilage is a complex tissue allowing the articulation of one bone over another) due to micro-or macro-trauma (repetitive motion, chronic inflammation, sprains, intra-articular fractures, obesity, ...) eventually wearing out and leadng to stiffness, which can become invalidating.
The symptoms of osteoarthritis are mainly characterized by a painful morning stiffness which fades with movement and during warm up.
Currently there is no effective treatment other than the use of a prosthesis or cartilage graft. Much research is underway to find new molecules that would rebuild the cartilage.
Before resorting to surgery one has recourse to symptomatic treatments: anti-inflammatory drugs (All of them have serious cardiovascular or digestive side effects), peripheral or central analgesics, exercise in order to renew the synovial liquid, lubricating articulation (kinesitherapy, soft gymnastics,…).
Against arthrosis, Glucosamine and shark cartilage associated with hyaluronic acid, vitamins and minerals are an effecient combination.
