Cellulitis

Cellulitis in its popular sense, is not a disease but a swelling (edema) of the tissue under the skin giving the skin a padded look sometimes called "orange peel". One of the most likely explanations for this phenomenon is that the liquid is caught between intercellular fat cells by the circulating female hormones. This prevents a proper drainage of interstitial fluid flow in which toxins released from the cells travel. At present we do not know the exact cause. It could just be a hormonal problem that affects people who are overweight or not. Sometimes the swelling cause the areas affected by the "cellulite" to become painful. Thus the treatment here will facilitate the drainage of affected areas: endurance exercise, massage and diet.
